My name is Leigh Metz, I am a ceramic artist living in Baker City, Oregon. I'm passionate about exploring the interaction between the designs I put into the clay and the choice of glazes. I love how the edges of a design creates breaks of color and how the pressed design collects the glaze creating a deep pool of color. I have a palette of over 30 different glazes I use. Solitary and layered glazes. I am continually exploring with techniques to broaden my range of color and form.
I started my career in clay over 15 years ago. I took a ceramic hand building class at the local art center in Moab, Utah. This led to many classes and workshops and a career as a ceramic artist.
Feeling the desire to share my love of clay, I have volunteered in the classroom in collaboration with
teachers to compliment a lesson.
I sell my jewelry and artwork at many different galleries, regional shows and online.
